Biggest college rivalry in sports—two of the best three teams in the
nation—last second of the game. Two yards from defeat and 109 yards from
glory? Yeah. I would say it was the greatest ending play in American
sports history.
I’m neither an Auburn or Alabama fan, but watching that play live was like
anything I’ve ever seen in college football. Just goes to show that never
giving up will pay off eventually. Simply beautiful.
The ones commenting on here saying those weren’t 2 of the most unbelievable
plays are the ones that are also fans of teams who hasn’t done anything.
Belly aching cry babies:'( it’s ok, the world is full of cry babies. I’m
use to them by now.
the immaculate Reception was the first playoff win EVER for the Pittsburgh
Steelers and changed their destiny and the landscape of pro football
forever
PEople are only saying its the best because its the ESPN and
SEC…otherwise its probably in the top 30 best plays ever. Its most
definetly not the best.
It was the best play I have ever seen. I am a neutral observer…and
Auburn’s audacity and determination is something as a football coach
myself, to behold. Bama is just not living up to their hype. OU took
them apart in the Sugar Bowl. Every dog has its day…and Bama has had
theirs…TWICE. Kudos to Gus Malzahn and Auburn. This may be Karma for
Alabama after one of their fans poisoned Auburn’s Oaks at Toomers Corner.
War Eagle!
No. 1 Alabama at No. 4 Auburn
The Iron Bowl is far and away the most bitter rivalry in America. Red
Sox-Yankees, Packers-Bears… nope. Those teams dislike each other. But
Alabama and Auburn HATE each other. Some fans take it too far honestly.
Alabama, the two time defending champion, was just three games away from
its third consecutive national title.
Auburn, a team that went 3-9 the year before, was 11-1 and, while they had
an almost equally unlikely victory in their last game, were again playing
dominant offensive football.
Auburn had lost this game by a combined 92-14 the last two seasons.
Alabama had been machine like in dominance the past several years.
The winner of this game was guaranteed a spot in the SEC Championship, and
the winner of that game is basically guaranteed a spot in the National
Championship.
So think about all this: The Comeback team beats their archrival
Invincibles on a last second, once in a lifetime-type play to clinch a spot
in the championship game, a year after having the worst season in program
history.
In context, it’s one of the top plays in American sports history.
Greatest play in sports history? I’m sure it’s the best in college football
history or even in football history, but Aguero’s last minute goal to win
the league for Manchester City is better than this
Should be ONE OF The Greatest Play in Sports History? Did everyone forgot
the 1980’s USA hockey team? Or at least of this time period, that’ll give
them that.
I would not say this is the greatest play in sports history. Even though
it’s tough, he can outrun any defenders on Alabama. All he had to do was
run to the outside. I would consider it the most effective play in history.
The last I checked the state of Alabama is rather small with only 4 million
people… and a relativity poor state. They have no pro teams. How on
earth does Alabama and Auburn compete with the the big boys like Ohio
State, Texas, USC and the Florida Gators so effectively and so
consistently?
Wouldn’t even have this in my top20 all time greatest plays. people live
in the moment way to much when it comes to sports plays. This play is
badass, but c’mon. Let’s get real. Greatest in sports history??
Stanford / Cal blows this play away. Not even close. Cool your jets
folks.
Unquestionably the greatest play is sports history.

No…. Just no.

Perhaps I can add a little context with this one:

last second
