Bird was the most complete player ever. He had jedi powers over the ball,
he could do anything. Jordan was a scorer, Bird made everyone better he
could do it all. Left handed, right handed, 30 ft running jumpers, passes
behind his back, you couldn’t stop Larry he was too good.

Person was one of the few guys that could piss Bird off, never a good thing
for your team.
I have never cared for trash talking, when I was growing up it was poor
sportsmanship. You never heard about Chamberlain, Russell, West, Frazier,
Robertson trash talking.
If someone is talking trash while we are playing pickup then throws elbow
or undercuts me I might be ready to fight. If he did not say anything
beforehand I might think the same incidents were just accidental.
But in the NBA when everybody is great I guess sportsmanship does not
matter as much.

My favorite shooter. I watched him pre game at the Garden. He took 100
shots from all over the court. He would run to a spot, a ball boy would
pass him the ball and he would shoot. He was moving to the next spot before
it got to the basket. He hit 96.
He was an assassin. Tell me you didn’t get chills when he shot the last
one and walked away with his finger raised!!

I honestly did not give Bird enough credit until the mid to late 80’s when
Rodman who played for Detroit at the time was insulting him. He said that
if Bird was black he would be just an ordinary player. Then I looked at
what Bird did game in and out for the last 10 years at that time. If he was
black he would have been considered better than Magic to most blacks in my
opinion, he was already the best player to most whites at the time.
